S-64/Normal Procedures

SECTION 4. NORMAL PROCEDURES

1 Start

  1. PARKING BRAKE and NOSEWHEEL LOCK set.
  2. MASTER SWITCH panel switches as follows
    1. EXT POWER as required, ON for GPU start
    2. INV, IGN, GEN, RECT, POD PWR, ANTI-ICE switches OFF
    3. LDG GEAR in JACK position
    4. TAIL SKID as required
  3. BATT switch ON – check for illumination of caution lights.
  4. GPU connect as required
  5. FUEL switches
    1. FWD and AFT tank switches OFF
    2. AUX pump switches OFF
  6. FUEL SHUTOFF levers OFF
  7. N1 levers to SHUT OFF
  8. Overhead panel switches set as follows:
    1. Light switches as required
    2. APP MASTER switch OFF
  9. Check all circuit breakers IN
  10. Check advisory panel lights. The following lights should be on: #1 GENERATOR, #2 GENERATOR, #1 RECTIFIER, #2 RECTIFIER, #1 FUEL PRESS, #2 FUEL PRESS, 1ST STAGE SERVO, AFCS SERVO PRESS, 2ND STAGE SERVO, CO-PILOT PITOT HEAT, HOIST OIL PRESS, PILOT PITOT HEAT, ROTOR BRAKE PRESS, 1ST STAGE TAIL ROTOR SERVO, PARKING BRAKE ON
  11. Caution panel TEST switch to TEST. Verify all caution lights ON.
  12. Caution panel TEST switch to NORMAL.
  13. Fireguard Posted
  14. APP Clear
  15. APP Start
    1. MASTER switch ON
    2. Check LOW PRESS light ON
    3. APP Start, press and hold until APP N1 at 40%.
  16. GEN and RECT switches ON.
  17. Check GENERATOR and RECTIFIER caution lights out.
  18. Check transmission, utility hydraulic and hoist hydraulic pressure normal.
  19. INV switch ON
  20. Generators & Inverter Check
    1. #1 GEN switch OFF
    2. Check #1 GEN caution light ON, #1 and #2 RECT lights OFF.
    3. #2 GEN switch OFF
    4. Check #2 GEN light ON, #1 and #2 RECT light OFF.
    5. INV switch OFF
    6. Check #1 and #2 RECT lights ON
    7. #1 GEN, #2 GEN and INV switches ON
    8. Check GEN and RECT lights OFF
  21. GPU disconnect. EXT PWR switch OFF.
  22. PITOT HEAT switch ON. Check caution lights OUT.
  23. ROTOR BRAKE switch OFF, check caution light OUT.
  24. ROTOR BRAKE switch ON.
  25. FUEL SYSTEM
    1. #1 ENG FUEL PUMP switches ON
    2. Check ENG #1 pump lights OUT, #1 and #2 FUEL PRESS lights remain ON.
    3. Open #1 fuel valve. #1 FUEL PRESS light OUT.
    4. X-FEED switch ON. #2 FUEL PRESS remains ON.
    5. Open #2 fuel valve. #2 FUEL PRESS light OUT.
    6. X-FEED switch to CLOSE. #2 FUEL PRESS light ON.
    7. #2 ENG FUEL PUMP switches ON. #2 FUEL PRESS light OUT.
    8. AUX FUEL PUMP switches OFF
    9. FUEL TEST IND switch to IND. Verify fuel gauges read zero.
    10. FUEL TEST IND switch to CONT. Verify sufficient fuel levels.
  26. Tail skid DOWN
  27. Anti-collision lights ON
  28. Position lights as required
  29. #1 ENGINE START
    1. Fireguard Posted
    2. N1 Lever to SHUTOFF
    3. Press starter switch
    4. Verify #1 ENG STARTER ON light illuminated
    5. Verify Engine #1 N1 at least 20%.
    6. WARNING – Do not turn IGN switches ON if N1 is below 20%. A fire or engine explosion may result. #1 ##IGN switch ON
    7. Advance N1 lever to GRD IDLE
    8. Check ENG #1 gauges in green and #1 ENG STARTER light OUT.
  30. ROTOR ENGAGEMENT
    1. Outside area clear
    2. ROTOR BRAKE switch to OFF.
    3. Verify ROTOR BRAKE ON and ROTOR BRAKE PRESS caution lights OUT.
    4. Advance ENG #1 N1 levers to FULL OPEN
    5. Verify FIRST STAGE SERVRO pressure advance to GREEN ARC and 1ST STAGE SERVO caution light OUT
    6. Verify transmission pressure and temperature indications in GREEN ARC.
    7. Verify #1 ENGINE RPM and ROTOR RPM in GREEN ARC.
  31. #2 ENGINE START
    1. Fireguard Posted
    2. N1 Lever to SHUTOFF
    3. Press starter switch
    4. Verify #2 ENG STARTER ON light illuminated
    5. Verify Engine #2 N1 at least 20%.
    6. WARNING – Do not turn IGN switches ON if N1 is below 20%. A fire or engine explosion may result.
    7. #2 IGN switch ON
    8. Advance N1 lever to GRD IDLE
    9. Check ENG #2 gauges in green and #2 ENG STARTER light OUT.
    10. Advance N1 lever to FULL OPEN
    11. Check 2ND STAGE SERVO light OUT
    12. Verify #2 ENGINE RPM in GREEN ARC
  32. After Engine Start
    1. IGN switches OFF
    2. APP STOP
    3. APP MASTER switch OFF
    4. ANTI-ICE switches as required

2 Takeoff and Climb

  1. Hoist controls – as required
  2. System Instruments – Check
  3. Nr – Check
  4. AFCS – as required

3 Pre-Landing

  1. N1 levers – FULL OPEN
  2. Nosewheel handle – as required
  3. Parking brake – as required
  4. Landing gear – JACK
  5. Tail skid - DOWN
  6. Hoist controls – as required
  7. Caution/advisory panel – Check
  8. System Instruments – Check
  9. Crew and passengers – Check
  10. Landing lights – as required

4 Shutdown

  1. AFCS disconnect
  2. Collective full down, Cyclic centered
  3. Nosewheel handle locked
  4. Parking brake set
  5. APP Start
    1. APP MASTER switch ON
    2. Check LOW PRESS light ON
    3. APP Start, press and hold until APP N1 at 40%.
  6. N1 levers – GRD IDLE
  7. #2 Engine N1 lever – SHUT OFF
  8. ROTOR BRAKE – ON
  9. #1 Engine N1 lever – SHUT OFF
  10. #1 and #2 FUEL VALVES to OFF
  11. APP Accumulator Recharge
    1. Verify #1 Engine N1 at SHUT-OFF
    2. Press #1 Engine starter button
    3. Verify APP HYD PRESS caution light OUT
    4. Press #1 Engine stop button
  12. Anti-Collision Lights – OFF
  13. Position lights – OFF
  14. All switches OFF except BAT, INV, ROTOR BRAKE
  15. APP – Stop
  16. APP MASTER switch OFF
  17. Wait for TRANS OIL PRESS caution light ON
  18. INV and all light switches OFF
  19. BAT switch OFF
