SECTION 4. NORMAL PROCEDURES

1 PREFLIGHT

A thorough pre-flight inspection is essential to the safe conduct of your flight. The following procedures are recommended:

Front

  1. Inspect bubble for cracks
  2. Inspect landing lights

Right Side

  1. Inspect right door for security
  2. Inspect beacon and front nav lights
  3. Inspect right skids and struts
  4. Verify door secure
  5. Inspect battery and electrical connections
  6. Inspect primary and auxiliary fuel pumps and fuel lines
  7. Inspect main drive shaft, belts, fans and condenser
  8. Inspect vertical drive shaft, centrifugal clutch and sprag clutch
  9. Inspect steam turbine for integrity
  10. Inspect boiler for cracks or damage
  11. Open boiler door, inspect burner, close door
  12. Open drain valve, verify water flow, close valve
  13. Inspect whistle
  14. Verify steam vent closed
  15. Inspect tail rotor drive shaft

Tail Rotor
