SECTION 4. NORMAL PROCEDRUES

1 Start-Up

1.1 APU Start

  1. Battery ON
  2. Select EICAS on an MFD
  3. Verify battery voltage at 28V (V-B).
  4. APU GEN ON
  5. APU CTL ON
  6. APU AIR SRC ON
  7. Verify primary bus (V-P) voltage at 28V
  8. Verify adequate fuel

1.2 System Checks

  1. Verify MSTR CAUTION, #1 ENG OUT and #2 ENG OUT warning lights ON
  2. Lift collective slightly, verify horn and LOW RPM warning
  3. Rotor break OFF
  4. Anti-Col. ON (Upr and Lwr)
  5. Position Lights ON for night flight

1.3 Engine #1 Start

  1. #1 Ignition (IGN) ON
  2. #1 Fuel to DIRECT
  3. #1 Engine Control to IDLE
  4. Press and hold #1 Start
  5. Verify Engine #1 N1 at least 20%
  6. Verify Engine #1 N1 increase to 100%.
  7. AC Generator #1 ON
  8. DC Converter #1 ON

1.4 Engine #2 Start

  1. #2 Ignition (IGN) ON
  2. #2 Fuel to DIRECT
  3. #2 Engine Control to IDLE
  4. Verify Engine #2 N1 at least 20%
  5. Press and hold #2 Start
  6. Verify Engine #2 N1 increase to 100%
  7. AC Generator #2 ON
  8. DC Converter #2 ON

1.5 APU Shutdown and Emergency Systems

  1. APU AIR SRC OFF
  2. APU CTL OFF
  3. APU GEN OFF
  4. FIRE EXTG ARM
  5. ELT ARM

1.6 Flight Preparations

  1. Verify DOORS CLOSED
  2. Turn on Fasten Seatbelts
  3. Increase #1 and #2 Engine Control to FLY
  4. Verify Engine #1 and #2 N1 and N2 at 100%
  5. Verify rotor RPM at 100%
  6. Verify caution lights OFF
  7. Fly

2 Post-Start

2.1 Takeoff and Climb

  1. Pull collective until aircraft lifts into hover. Apply left pedal to maintain directional control.
  2. Apply forward cyclic and up collective for desired climb profile.
  3. Landing gear UP
  4. Slight down collective to level off. Control airspeed with cyclic.
  5. Seat Belt Sign OFF

2.2 Decent and Landing

  1. Landing gear DOWN
  2. Seat Belt Sign ON
  3. Lower collective to begin decent and apply back cyclic to maintain 60-80kts
  4. Nearing approach point, up collective and back cyclic to slow descent and approach rate
  5. Up collective and left pedal to transition to hover

3 Shut-Down

  1. #1 and #2 engine controls to IDLE
  2. Allow rotor RPM to stabilize
  3. #1 and #2 engine controls to OFF
  4. Rotor break ON when RPM below 50%
  5. All switches OFF
