SECTION 8. HOIST AN MISSION SYSTEMS

A single-point hoist system that supports sling loads up to 20,000 pounds static (15,000 pounds for hydraulic raising/lower) is included as standard equipment on this helicopter. A station selector for the hoist is labeled HOIST CONTROL and located next to the right seat pilot station. The selector has positions for OFF, CO-PILOT, PILOT and AFT and selects which pilot station will have control of the winch. There is also a hook release lock switch near the selector that will prevent accidental release of the hook. Up/down hoist controls are on the collective, and hook open/close controls are on the cyclic at each pilot station. You may also use the chat commands described in SECTION 1 - HOIST. The aft pilot may also use the "hc" (hoist control) chat commands to use PgUP/PgDown to control the hoist instead of the collective.

Loads for the system should use the scripted saLoadRing prim as the root prim. You may detach this prim from the sample loads included with this system to create your own loads. To pick up a load, the hook should be in the open position, and lowered onto the attachment ring. The hook should be perpendicular to the ring in order to properly attach. When a load is attached, the hook will automatically close on the ring. Loads become physical when they are picked up. If an object was non-physical when the script in the load ring was last reset, then the load object will return to non-physical after 30 seconds.

In the event that a load becomes snagged, or some other event requires emergency release of the load, a cable shear switch is located at both the pilot and aft-pilot stations. A switch cover protects the switch from accidental activation. When the shear switch is activated, any load will be dropped, and the cable and hook hidden. Turn all shear switches off to restore the cable and hook.
