H-160/Limits
CHAPTER 4 - OPERATING LIMITS AND RESTRICTIONS GENERAL Purpose This chapter indentifies the operating limitations that should be observed by the flight crew during operation of this helicopter. Minimum Crew Requirement The minimum crew required to operate this helicopter is one pilot. While not required, a copilot is recommended to reduce pilot workload. SYSTEM LIMITS Instrument Markings All instrument markings should be observed while flying this helicopter. Red markings indicate the limits for which operation above or below that limit is likely to cause damage to helicopter systems. Yellow markings indicate that helicopter should only be operated in that range for a limited period of time. Green markings indicate the normal range of operation. Rotor Limits Rotor speed should not exceed 108 percent in normal operation. Rotor speed exursions above 115 percent require a tare-down inspection of the rotor system. Maximum rotor RPM for rotor brake engagement is 50%.
Torque Limits AEO (All Engines Operating) Torque limits: Maximum continuous power, 85% Maximum 5 min. power, 100% OEI (One Engine Inoperative) Torque limits: Maximum continuous power, 100% Maximum 5 min. power, 125% LOADING LIMITS Center-of-Gravity Limitations See Fig. 5-1 for center-of-gravity limitations with respect to gross weight. Maximum Gross Weight The maximum gross weight is 12,500 pounds. AIRSPEED LIMITATIONS Maxmimum forward speed The following forward airspeed limitations apply: With both engines operating, the maximum forward speed is 175 knots. With one engines operating, the maximum forward speed is 90 knots. In autorotation, the maximum forward speed is 90 knots. With side doors open, the maximum forward speed is 90 knots. With a single AFCS operative, the maximum forward speed is 100 knots. With floats inflated, the maximum forward speed is 80 knots. Other Speed Limitations Maximum airspeed in sideward flight is 30 knots. Maximum airspeed in rearward flight is 30 knots. Maximum crosswind or tailwind in a hover is 30 knots. MANEUVERING LIMITS Aerobatics Acrobatic maneuvers are prohibited with this helicopter. Bank Limitations Bank angles are limited to 60 degrees. Landing Limitations The maximum rate of descent at touchdown is 500 feet/min. The maximum groundspeed for running landings is 60 knots. SERVICING CAPACITIES Fuel Tank Capacities The main fuel tank capacity is 276 gallons. Fluid Capacities Fulid capacities are as follows: Fluid Max Capacity (quarts) Min Operating
- 1 Engine Oil 8 6
- 2 Engine Oil 8 6
