SECTION 3. NORMAL PROCEDURES

1 General
This section describes the procedures necessary to safely and efficiently operate your aircraft. A basic understanding of helicopter flight techniques is assumed.
2 Preflight Procedures
2.1 Exterior Checks (Left Side)
- Remove covers and chocks
- Main Rotors – check condition
- Left Transmission Compartment
- Generator #1 – check condition
- Hydraulic Pump #1 – check condition
- Hydraulic #1 Fluid Level – check level
- Left Engine Compartment
- Engine #1 – check condition
- Engine #1 oil level – check level
- Landing Gear - check
- Tail
- Tail Rotor – check condition
- T/R Transmission– check condition
- T/R Transmission Fluid – check level
2.2 Exterior Checks (Right Side)
- Right Engine Compartment
- Engine #2 – check condition
- Engine #2 oil level – check level
- Left Transmission Compartment
- Generator #2 – check condition
- Hydraulic Pump #2 – check condition
- Hydraulic #2 Fluid Level – check level
- Main Transmission – check condition
- Main Transmission Fluid – check level
2.3 Interior Checks
- Circuit Breaker Panel – check
- Rotor Brake – check disengaged
- Gear Lever – check down
- BATT 1 – ON
- Aircraft Event Log Check
- MFD3 – FMD
- Check log for unresolved faults
- MFD3 - NORM
- Exterior light check
- NAV, Beacon and Ldg Lights – ON
- Check correct operation of each light
- NAV, Beacon and Ldg Lights – OFF
2.4 Periodic Checks (Perform every 5 hours)
- Avionics Analyzer – place near Aircraft
- WiFi Connection – verify established
- Each Avionics System – verify functional
- Avionics Analyzer – stow
3 Flight Procedures
3.1 Start Procedures
- Cyclic & Pedals - CENTERED
- Collective - FULL DOWN
- Rotor Brake - OFF
- Park Brake - PARK
- Electrical Cutoff Bar - CLOSED
- BATT1 & BATT2 - ON
- Verify DC warning lights OFF
- Verify ≥ 23V each bus
- Use external power if < 23V
- GEN1 & GEN2 - ON
- ELT - CHECK ARMED
- Anti-Collision - BOTH
- Fuel Quantity - CHECK
- Collective - LIFT SLIGHTLY
- Verify low RPM warn sound
- Collective - FULL DOWN
- Test - ON
- Verify overhead warning lights illuminated and fire warning alarm active.
- Test - OFF
- Verify warning lights out except FCR
- FADEC 1 & 2 - ON & GUARDED
- Engine #1 Control - IDLE
- Wait for #1 N1 to reach 75%
- Engine #2 Control - IDLE
- Wait for #2 N2 to reach 75%
- RA1 & RA2 - ON
- FMS1 & FMS2 - ON
- AHRS Select - AHRS1
- DG CORR - DEPRESS
- Verify DG and compass deviate & ALIGN warning lit
- DG/MG - DEPRESS
- Verify DG aligned, ALIGN out
- AHRS Select - AHRS2
- DG CORR - DEPRESS
- Verify DG and compass deviate & ALIGN warning lit
- DG/MG - DEPRESS
- Verify DG aligned, ALIGN out
- EMERG GEN - ON
- Verify indicator on MFD
- EMERG GEN - OFF
- FMS/GPS Course - AS REQUIRED
- Engine Control Guards - CLOSE
- Engine #1 & #2 - FLY
- Wait Eng 1&2 @ 100% N2
- AFCS #1 & #2 - ON
- All CAD Warnings - VERIFY OUT
3.2 Take-Off
- N2 & NR - VERIFY 100%
- NAV - AS REQUIRED
- Transponder - AS REQUIRED
- Fuel Quantity - CHECK
- Doors - CHECK
- CAD - VERIFY NO MSGS
- Floats - AS REQUIRED
- ARM for overwater flights
- Crew & Passengers - BRIEF
- Nose Wheel - FREE
- Park Brake - FREE
After takeoff:
- Climb - ESTABLISH
- Landing Gear - UP
- Verify three amber lights
3.3 Pre-Landing
- Landing Gear - DOWN
- Verify three green lights
- Nose Wheel - FREE
- Park Brake - FREE
- Landing Lights - AS REQUIRED
- Crew & Passengers - BRIEF
After Touchdown:
- Floats - OFF
- Cyclic - CENTER
- Collective - FULL DOWN
4 =Shutdown
- Park Brake - PARK
- Nose Wheel - LOCK
- AFCS #1 & #2 - OFF
- Engine Control #1 & #2 - IDLE
- RA1 & RA2 - OFF
- FMS1 & FMS2 - OFF
- MFD3 - FMD
- Check log for abnormal indications
- MFD3 - NORM
- Engine Guards #1 & #2 - OPEN
- Engine Control #1 & #2 - OFF
- Engine Instruments - MONITOR
- GEN1 & GEN2 - OFF
When rotor RPM < 50%
- Rotor Brake - ON
When rotor has stopped:
- All Lights - OFF
- BATT1 & BATT2 - OFF
- Verify ELT - NO LIGHT
